Abstract
The research was conducted in December 2008 at four sites along Pangandaran beach. The Abundance of fish was observed according to visual census technique, while coral lifeforms was estimated by a 150 m transect line method, at a depth of 3 m and 10 m. Nine species of Chaetodontidae were found during this study and they represented genus Chaetodon. Multi Dimensional Scaling Analysis (MDS) was used to determine the association of Chaetodontidae fishes with coral lifeforms among transects across study area. Chaetodon adiergastos and Chaetodon trifasciatus were associated with Soft Coral (SC) and Coral Musrhom (CMR). Chaetodon lineolatus, Chaetodon auriga and Chaetodon ulietensis were associated with Acropora Branching (ACB), Acropora Digitata (ACD) and Acropora Tabulate (ACT), and the rest, Chaetodon decussatus, Chaetodon ornatisimus, Chaetodon vagabundus and Chaetodon baronessa were associated with Acropora Branching (ACB) and Coral Massive (CM).
